Originally this post was to be included with a series I will be doing on Britney Spears. The series will revisit her entire body of work with each studio album (9 in total) thats been released.
Lets talk about an album by the name of Glory that deserved so much more than even a re-release was not enough. It is the most versatile of her albums in my mind. It fuses together Mainstream & Soft Pop, EDM, Different Languages, and even has a country influenced track.
Glory is a true testament to how much Brit has grown over her career. The videos should give some insight, while celebrating her. Invitation is the perfect opener to the album, it could also be a great way to show off all the videos for the era in one trailer.
Grown & Glorious \ Glory
- Invitation (Era\Album Trailer)
- Mood Ring
- If I’m Dancing \ Love Me Down (Dual Release Single)
- Just Like Me \ Liar (Dual Release Single)
- Swimming in the Stars
Mood Ring (the song that almost didn’t make it to the General Public) is one of the best of her discopharaphy along with a few others on the album. It is the clear choice for the first single. The video should show all the struggles of her fame over the years. Give a glimpse into some of the things she’s hidden over the years. It could be similar to the Every time video, except for it need to in todays time centering around her life as a whole. At the end there are just instrumentals with her saying that she wants her life back to her manager as she walks out the door.
I put If I’m Dancing & Love Me Down as a dual release single because releasing both songs at once with a music video that both songs back to back makes sense. As it starts she is going into the club where she has the time of her life. The bouncy music should be mirrored in the visuals with effects that spin and jump with the music. As the night goes on she finds a man, where she eventually leaves the club with him. When she leaves the club with him the new song starts. They ride around town, go out to different places to grab food, do different stuff (like crashing parties) just to have fun.
Another dual release that makes sense story wise is Just Like Me & Liar. They sound like two bookends to a haunting story. In the video for Just Like Me she thinks he may be cheating on her but she is not sure. As the investigation by Brit goes on she keeps seeing her lover with another woman. On the last chorus she walks in on him with the woman as she says in the bridge “she can have you”. For Liar she is pissed for good reason! In the first part of the video she gets away from the man. I see her driving down the road in a truck extremely emotional. As the video goes on she gets her revenge on her cheating dog of a ex.
Swimming in the Stars is a song that is close to my heart. This is the kind of music I think she could make so perfectly. It touches my heart, going way below surface. The production (even though a little busy at times) is just perfection. Upon the release of the buried track the single art was gorgeous and really gives the feel of the song. The video should take place in the same location as the cover. Even the outfit is so beautiful on her, the entire look is on point actually. It can be a celebration of Brit for where she is now. Maybe even include her kids in parts of the video.
